Apple, a smartphone manufacturer that is often slow to upgrade hardware, is highly appreciated for its software. Along with the launch of iPhone 14 Pro, the company introduced features loved by many users such as Dynamic Island and Live Activities. There are currently a number of Android phone manufacturers inspired by these features, and Samsung may be next.
A new report from the account @chunvn8888 on the social network Twitter/X says that Samsung is testing its own version of Dynamic Island and Live Activities on One UI 7.0. Dynamic Island is a feature used by Apple to somewhat "cover-up" the notch on the screen. It can display information like a timer, allow music control, and view and interact with Apple Pay and Face ID.
Meanwhile, Live Activities is a lock screen notification feature from apps that can update automatically. For example, you can track the score of a game right on the lock screen, or the progress of a technology driver...
It's still unclear what Samsung will name these features, and whether they will be improved over similar versions from Apple. However, these may not be the only things the Korean company "learns" from its biggest rival. Not long ago, there were rumors that the company's upcoming One UI 7.0 update would have a design inspired by iOS.
The One UI 7.0 Beta program will likely take place in the next few days. The stable version of One UI 7.0 is expected to be released in October or November 2024.
