The stable version of One UI 7.0 will be released in early 2025 alongside the Galaxy S25 series. Before that, Samsung will hold a One UI Beta Program in some countries, as it has done in the past.
Many fans who eagerly await new One UI releases every year are getting impatient. It’s not their fault, but I can’t blame Samsung entirely either. One UI 7.0 is a huge update and takes a long time to develop. However, I do blame Samsung for the delay in releasing the latest version of One UI Watch.
Samsung held a One UI Watch Program in June before announcing the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra (which came with One UI 6.0 Watch pre-installed). The beta is already available in the US and South Korea – the two markets where Samsung almost always chooses to run the One UI Watch Program.
One UI 6.0 Watch has been in beta since June
Like the upcoming One UI 7.0 for Galaxy phones and tablets, One UI 6.0 Watch has had a longer development period than previous One UI Watch versions.
Fortunately, the stable version of One UI 6.0 Watch began rolling out three weeks ago for the Galaxy Watch 6 series. However, Samsung appears to be only releasing the stable version to those who participated in the One UI Watch Beta Program with the Galaxy Watch 6 or Galaxy Watch 6 Classic.
Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 owners are still waiting, as are Galaxy Watch 6 series users outside the US and South Korea.
It’s unclear why Samsung is taking so long to roll out One UI 6.0 Watch globally. With One UI 7.0, Samsung can justify the fact that this is a very big update. The same can be said for One UI 6.1 and One UI 6.1.1: they added a bunch of Galaxy AI features.
However, there’s nothing in One UI 6.0 Watch that would justify Samsung’s delay. Ever since Samsung announced that it would provide seven years of software support for some of its phones, the pace at which new software updates are released has seemed to slow down considerably.
It’s unclear whether this will become the norm going forward. I’m just hoping that One UI 6.0 Watch will be released to all eligible devices soon, preferably before the first beta of One UI 7.0 is released.
