Samsung released One UI 6.1 for the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy S23 series on March 28. More than a month later, users of these devices are still complaining about reduced battery life.

Just days after One UI 6.1 was released, Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 owners reported a decrease in battery life. Our Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 also have the same problem. Unfortunately, after a few days, the battery life has not returned to what it was before, remaining significantly lower than on One UI 6.0.

One UI 6.1's higher battery drain remains unfixed after more than a month

Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ owners also seem to be facing the same issue. Among the high-end Galaxy phone models launched by Samsung in 2023, it seems that only the Galaxy S23 Ultra is not affected.

For other phone models that have also been upgraded to One UI 6.1, there are not many reports of reduced battery life. In fact, battery life seemed to improve after the device was updated. However, since One UI 6.1 has only just been released to them, it's likely that users haven't had enough time to notice any changes in battery life yet.

Is Samsung planning to fix the error?

Up to now, Samsung has not officially acknowledged the above error. Therefore, there is no indication that they have a plan to address it. We have contacted the company and will report as soon as we receive a response.

Until a fix is released, you'll have to live with a device with a much worse battery life than before. You can try disabling battery-draining features like Always-On Display and turning on Battery Saver mode in the meantime.

You can also try clearing the cache on your device. Factory reset may also fix the problem. Just remember to back up important data using Samsung's Smart Switch app for Windows or macOS or the Cloud Temporary Backup feature.
