2020's Galaxy S20 Ultra was a huge leap forward for Samsung's Galaxy S series. The company hasn't upgraded its battery and charging technology since then. It looks like that won't change with next year's Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The Galaxy S20 Ultra launched in 2020 with a 5,000mAh battery and 45W of maximum charging. At the time, these were very good numbers, making it appealing to many. Unsurprisingly, the Galaxy S21 Ultra has the same specs. The Galaxy S22 Ultra does the same, albeit with a little more room inside for the S Pen. However, this trend has continued to this day.
Both the Galaxy S23 Ultra and Galaxy S24 Ultra have the same 5,000mAh battery and 45W of maximum charging as the Galaxy S20 Ultra. Note that this doesn't mean battery life hasn't improved. Each new generation of processors is more power efficient than the previous one. However, when we have products of similar size but with higher battery capacity like the Magic 6 Pro, it's hard not to feel like Samsung is stagnating.
According to tipster @UniverseIce, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will continue to have a 5000mAh battery and a maximum charging capacity of 45W. In other words, these numbers will remain unchanged for five generations.
Granted, this isn't a huge deal. Samsung's high-end phones have traditionally had excellent battery life and perfectly acceptable charging speeds. However, for a product with the "Ultra" in its name, it's still disappointing to see those specs remain unchanged.
