Samsung has released the January 2025 security update for the Galaxy S21 series in the US. The update is now available for carrier-locked devices and will soon be rolled out to more countries. Users can identify the update through the software version: G991USQSEGXLB for Galaxy S21, G996USQSEGXLB for Galaxy S21+, and G998USQSEGXLB for Galaxy S21 Ultra.
Samsung's January 2025 security update brings many notable improvements, helping to improve system stability and fix issues from the previous software. With a size of about 400 MB, this patch focuses on improving the overall performance of the device, ensuring more safety and reliability. In particular, more than 50 security vulnerabilities have been fixed, including 5 critical vulnerabilities and 24 high-level CVEs from Google. Samsung also addressed 22 separate vulnerabilities, focusing on components like Sound Picker, Samsung Messages, Notification Manager, and Bootloader.
To check and install the update, users just need to go to Settings, select Software Update, then tap Download and Install.
Samsung is also in the process of finalizing the stable One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S24 series and is expected to launch with Android 15 on the upcoming Galaxy S25 series. After that, this update will continue to be deployed to many other Galaxy devices, promising to bring an increasingly better user experience.
