Entering the new year, Samsung has begun releasing security updates for phone devices. On the morning of January 11, the Galaxy S21 FE officially received a new, more optimal security update, helping to patch software vulnerabilities, prevent cyber attacks, and ensure users' data. This version is currently available in select countries in Europe and will be available in other countries and regions soon.

Galaxy S21 FE receives more optimized security updates

Currently, the new software update for Galaxy S21 FE is available in Ireland, Spain, and the UK. It carries firmware version G990BXXS6FWL5 and comes with the January 2024 security patch, which fixes 75 security-related vulnerabilities discovered in the previous software version. This update will not bring any new features or performance improvements. However, it may add burn-in protection, a feature that was removed on some phones with the Android 14 update.

To update the new security version on your Galaxy S21 FE phone, go to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install.

The Galaxy S21 FE was updated to One UI 6.0 based on Android 14 last month and received the December 2023 security patch. As of now, the device has received two versions of the update and it will continue to receive two more Android updates in the future.
