From now on, Samsung will only update the Galaxy S20 series quarterly instead of monthly like before. This means that if you own a Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy S20 FE, Galaxy Note 20, or Note 20 Ultra, you will no longer receive monthly security updates from Samsung, but they will be Released every three months.
The Galaxy S20 series has received the March 2024 security update. However, it will not be released next April. Instead, users have to wait until June to receive the latest security patches for their devices.
The Galaxy S20 series was launched in 2020 and comes with Android 10 built-in. Samsung has supported software updates for the devices for three years and now they no longer receive new Android updates. Besides the Galaxy S20 series, the Korean company has also downgraded the Galaxy Note 20 series from monthly to quarterly updates.
Although Samsung often changes its update policy based on when the product is released. However, both the Galaxy Note 20, Note 20 Ultra and S20 FE had their update schedules downgraded at the same time as the Galaxy S20 series, even though they were released about six months later. Not only that, the Galaxy S20 series also gets a fifth year of software support, while they are only eligible for updates for four years.
