The Galaxy A13 – a budget phone that was launched two years ago – has received the October 2024 security update before most of the premium Galaxy phones. The update for the Galaxy A13 comes after the October 2024 security update was released for the Galaxy S24 series (including the Galaxy S24 FE).

The Galaxy A13 in some Asian markets – including Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand – received the update first. Since it is a budget Galaxy phone that has already received two OS upgrades, it could take a few weeks before the update is rolled out globally. Additionally, it appears that the Galaxy A13 5G is not getting the October 2024 software update as early as the Galaxy A13.

Galaxy A13 owners can manually download the October 2024 software update – which carries the baseband version A135FXXS9EXI2 – by navigating to the Settings app → Software update → Download and install.

The Galaxy A13 has only received two OS updates. As a result, it is only eligible for security updates. The Galaxy A14 also has a similar software update policy. However, the Galaxy A15 will receive up to four OS upgrades and security updates for five years. The Galaxy A15 will receive up to four OS upgrades and security updates for five years.

The Galaxy A16 5G was recently launched with a six-time OS update policy. Future budget and mid-range Galaxy phones may also benefit from the same policy.
