Learn how to get the most out of your Galaxy Z Fold5 with hidden features with Good Lock, MultiStar, and more.

There are a lot of hidden features on the Galaxy Z Fold5. So in this article, let's take a look at a few of them so you can get the most out of your latest foldable phone.

Download Good Lock for more customizations

Good Lock is an exclusive app for Samsung Galaxy devices. You can download Good Lock from the Galaxy Store. The application provides more customizations for the Galaxy Z Fold5, opening up many new possibilities.

In Good Lock, there are many modules. The following are common ones:

  • Theme Park: This module allows you to create custom themes for your device. For example, you can adjust the quick settings panel background, the appearance of the keyboard keys, the design of the volume bar, etc.
  • Fantastic: This module allows you to customize the S Pen on Galaxy Z Fold5 more deeply. You can also create application shortcuts that appear when you hold down the button on the pen or double-tap the tip of the pen on the screen.
  • LockStar: This module allows you to customize the lock screen in more depth. Thanks to that, you can have a lock screen like no other.
  • NavStar: Not satisfied with the navigation keys or gestures on Galaxy Z Fold5? If so, this is the module for you. You can make the navigation bar transparent, allow the back gesture to work in full-screen mode, etc.
In addition, Good Lock also has many other modules that you may like.

Force apps to switch from the main screen to the external screen

Using the Good Lock app's MultiStar module, you can force apps to switch from the home screen to the external screen. Let's say you're watching YouTube on your home screen and suddenly want to use the Galaxy Z Fold5 intent form. If so, you'll want the video to play on an external display. MultiStar will help simplify this process.

Go to Good Lock to download MultiStar. Then, go to section I ❤️ Galaxy Foldable. Here, turn on Continue All Apps on the front screen.

Force apps to work in landscape view

The main screen of the Galaxy Z Fold5 has a fairly square ratio. Therefore, there are some incompatible applications, such as Instagram. Fortunately, Samsung has found a way to fix this problem.

You can go to Settings → Advanced features → Labs → Landscape view for portrait apps, then select the app you want. Since this is a feature in the Labs section, you may encounter errors while using it. Therefore, you can turn this feature off whenever needed.

Force all apps to be split-screenable

Many Android apps do not support split screens, such as Instagram. Fortunately, Samsung has found a way to fix this problem.

If you go to Settings → Advanced Features → Labs and select Multi-Window for all apps, any app will be able to open in split screen or pop-up view. It should be noted that some applications may encounter errors when forced to support multi-windows like this.

Change scanning frequency to extend battery life

Both screens of the Galaxy Z Fold5 have a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz. However, the battery capacity of Galaxy Z Fold5 is only 4400 mAh. If you want the Galaxy Z Fold5 to last longer than a day, you might want to switch to the 60 Hz refresh rate.

Just go to Settings → Display → Motion Smoothness. Here you can switch from Adaptive to Standard. When the Adaptive option is selected, the scanning frequency will be adjusted from 1 Hz to 120 Hz depending on the situation. Meanwhile, if you choose Standard, the screen will always have a 60 Hz refresh rate.
