The February 2024 security update was released first on the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 last week. Now, it has also appeared on the Galaxy S21 series in Europe. Other regions and countries will receive this update soon.

Galaxy S21 receives February 2024 security update in Europe

The new software update for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra brings the February 2024 security patch. It comes with firmware version G998BXXS9FXAH and is available in Switzerland. This release fixes 72 security vulnerabilities discovered in Android and Samsung's software for smartphones and tablets.

This is just a security patch, so users should not expect it to bring any new features or performance improvements. The new features will likely appear on the Galaxy S21 series with the One UI 6.1 update and will launch in the first half of this year.

If you live in Europe and have an S21 series phone, you can check for and download the update by going to the Settings app > Software Update > Download and Install.

The Galaxy S21 was launched in early 2021 and comes with Android 11 pre-installed right out of the box. The phone received the Android 12 update in late 2021 and the Android 13 update in late 2022. A few months ago, it also started receiving the One UI 6.0 update based on Android 14. The Galaxy S21 series will get the Android 15 update as the last major Android OS update and it could launch later this year.
