After four years of launch, Samsung officially announced the end of software support for the first Galaxy Z Flip model. From now on, it will no longer receive any new software updates.
Android 12 is the final software update of the Galaxy Z Flip. Samsung has also released the January 2024 security patch for the device, and it will likely roll out at least one more security update before ending support permanently.
Galaxy Z Flip 5G will continue to receive quarterly security updates
Samsung just ended support for the LTE version of the Galaxy Z Flip. The Galaxy Z Flip 5G, which comes six months after the LTE version, is still eligible for quarterly security updates for another six months or so.
It's worth mentioning that the Galaxy Z Flip hasn't received the same favor as other high-end phones the company launched in 2020. The Galaxy S20 series gets its fifth year of updates even though it's only eligible for four years updates. That may have something to do with Samsung's folding phones having much lower sales, especially the first few models.
