The first beta of One UI 7.0 was released for the Galaxy S24 series in select markets. Along with the major changes, there are a few smaller improvements — like integrating the Galaxy Buds controller into the media widget — that aren’t mentioned in the changelog.

One UI 7.0 media widget in the Quick Panel can control the Galaxy Buds

One UI 7.0 media widget in the Quick Panel can control the Galaxy Buds. As shown in the screenshot below, the music player widget has a Galaxy Buds icon that, when tapped, brings up the following controls:

  • Battery level
  • Volume
  • Active Noise Cancellation settings: Off, Ambient Sound, Adaptive, Active Noise Cancellation
  • Active Noise Cancellation level
  • 360 Sound
  • Equalizer
  • App name

This is a small but useful improvement for most people who listen to music and podcasts as well as watch movies on their Galaxy phones and tablets using the Galaxy Buds. A similar feature is already available on the iPhone with AirPods.

For now, the Galaxy Buds controls on the Galaxy Buds only seem to work with the Galaxy Buds 3 and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. It doesn't appear to work with older Galaxy Buds models, such as the Galaxy Buds FE.

It's unclear whether the new controls will only be available for the Galaxy Buds 3 and newer series, or if Samsung plans to support older Galaxy Buds models in the future.
