Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 are the first two phone models to run One UI 6.1.1. The new software has a few more interesting and useful features powered by AI, including Dynamic Effects. This feature can turn any regular photo of people into a live wallpaper with a parallax effect.
One UI 6.1.1's Dynamic Effects feature works with regular photos
One UI 6.1.1's new Dynamic Effects feature can separate a subject (such as people and animals) from the background using AI. The background is then rendered with a rear view effect to create a 3D effect.
Samsung introduced and explained this feature in detail on the community forum page for the Korean market. Essentially, animation leverages object extraction from Images (which debuted with One UI 5.1) to create two photos from one regular photo. In addition, the Object Removal feature is also used to fill gaps in the background. The subject is then placed on the background and the parallax effect is applied.
Animation effects may not work on photos with too many subjects or subjects that are too small. This feature could be rolled out to any high-end device running One UI 6.1 with an update.
How do you create Animated wallpapers on Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets?
To create an Animated wallpaper, open any photo on your device (running One UI 6.1.1) that has a person or pet in it. Then, when you swipe up from the bottom of the screen in the Gallery app, you'll see a key labeled “Animations.” Once you press it, the device will take a few seconds to create the Dynamic Effect wallpaper. Once done, you can share or save it as an MP4 file.
Next, you can set that file as the background of your Home screen and/or lock screen by following these steps:
- Long press on the home screen or lock screen and select Wallpaper and Style.
- Tap Change wallpaper → Gallery. Then select the video you saved.
- You can press the Cut key to cut the video as you like and then press the Done key.
