Have you ever wondered what the photo you took would look like if there was nothing behind the subject? Maybe you just want to show someone something you found in the store without them being distracted by what's going on in the background. Luckily, One UI 5.1 allows you to separate the subject from the background with just a tap thanks to the Image Clipper feature.

This feature was launched with the Galaxy S23 series. Not long after, a few older phone models such as the Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Z Fold4, etc. added this feature through a system update.

Basically, if you own a recently released high-end phone from Samsung, you can quickly separate the subject from the background with Image Clipper.

  1. Open the Gallery app.
  2. Find a photo where you want to separate the subject from the background.
  3. Press and hold the object you separated from the photo.
  4. Select Copy to save the subject to your clipboard so you can paste it into another photo or in another application.
  5. Select Share to open the share panel and send the subject directly to another application, such as Facebook, Instagram, etc.
  6. Select Save as an image to save the subject as an image with a transparent background.

It's done! Just make sure you use Samsung's Gallery app. Image Clipper does not currently work on any other photo applications.
