Every new phone and tablet has to have something upgraded to be considered worthwhile. The same goes for the Galaxy Tab S10 series. Here’s how Samsung’s two latest tablets stand out from their predecessors.
Better outdoor experience
While the screen size, resolution, and refresh rate of the Galaxy S10+ and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra haven’t changed much from their predecessors, their displays have received a meaningful upgrade that should improve the experience, especially in bright environments. Specifically, the 12.4” and 14.6” Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays feature new anti-reflective technology.
Reflections can be distracting, especially when using large-screen tablets like the Galaxy Tab S10 series in direct sunlight. The new anti-reflective technology works wonders, making the Galaxy Tab S10+ and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra more comfortable to use.
Samsung DeX Support with Powerful Performance
Unlike its predecessors, the Galaxy Tab S10 series is equipped with a MediaTek processor instead of Qualcomm or Samsung. This surprising decision by the company may pay off.
Samsung said that the Dimensity 9300+ inside the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra has 18%, 28% and 14% more CPU, GPU and NPU performance than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 inside the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, respectively. In addition, the new generation also has a 1.48x larger vapor chamber.
We haven't experienced the Galaxy Tab S10+ and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra enough to draw conclusions about their performance. However, we can be sure of two things: they are extremely smooth and Samsung DeX works extremely well.
Previous Galaxy tablets have been quite slow to turn on and off DeX. This may cause many people to not launch DeX often.
In our experience so far, the new Galaxy Tab S10+ and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra run DeX extremely smoothly. The time it takes to activate DeX is significantly reduced, encouraging users to use this feature more.
Galaxy AI optimized with a new key
Regarding the new Dimensity 9300+, Samsung said that they worked closely with MediaTek to optimize this processor for Galaxy AI. It is still unclear how much effort the company put in. Regardless, the Galaxy Tab S10 series supports all AI features.
In addition, Samsung has redesigned the Keyboard Cover for the Galaxy Tab S10 series a bit. More specifically, it has replaced the old Lang key with a new AI key. When pressed, the AI key will summon Gemini or Bixby.
Compatible with Galaxy Tab S9 Series Accessories
Samsung has confirmed that accessories for the Galaxy Tab S9 series are also compatible with the Galaxy Tab S10, including the Keyboard Cover. This is because Samsung has not changed the position and size of the S Pen charger and camera assembly. On the contrary, accessories for the Galaxy Tab S10 series are also compatible with the Galaxy Tab S9.
Galaxy Tab S8 users who upgraded to the Galaxy Tab S9 last year were not so lucky. They had to spend money to buy new accessories. This is all because the size and position of the S Pen charger and camera assembly changed from generation to generation.
Fortunately, Samsung has fixed this issue with the Galaxy Tab S10 series. This may make many Galaxy Tab S9 users not hesitate to upgrade to the Galaxy Tab S10. Of course, this does not apply to the Galaxy Tab S9 because the Galaxy Tab S10 does not exist.
Galaxy Tab S10 series gets seven years of OS updates
In addition to installing One UI 6.1.1 based on Android 14 on the Galaxy Tab S10 series right out of the box, Samsung also wanted to ensure that they have a long lifespan. Therefore, the Galaxy Tab S10+ and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra are the first personal tablets to receive seven years of OS updates.
Combined with the robust Armor Aluminum case and IP68 dust and water resistance, Galaxy Tab S10+ and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra users can rest assured that their devices will last for years without having to worry about missing out on key One UI features or security patches.
