One of the coolest features of the Galaxy S24 is Instant Slow Motion. It allows users to turn normal videos into slow-motion videos with just one simple operation, with the help of AI and a technique called “frame interpolation”. Although it's still not perfect, overall, this is a cool and well-received feature.
Samsung is bringing the Galaxy S24 Instant Slow Motion feature to some older Galaxy devices
As with most Galaxy AI features, many users are wondering if their older devices will get the Instant Slow Motion feature. Currently, this feature is only available on the Galaxy S24 series but thankfully it will be rolling out to some older Galaxy devices soon. An admin of the Samsung forum recently revealed the list of devices eligible to receive the Instant Slow Motion feature:
- Galaxy S23
- Galaxy S23+
- Galaxy S23 Ultra
- Galaxy Tab S9
- Galaxy Tab S9+
- Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra
- Galaxy Z Flip 5
- Galaxy Z Fold 5
This may be bad news for those using other devices not on the list, but Samsung says the Instant Slow Motion feature requires the minimum hardware configuration that the Galaxy S22 and flagship models require. The older Galaxy doesn't have, its powerful GPU and NPU. Specifically, this feature needs to process in 16.6 milliseconds for 60 fps video. Therefore, only devices equipped with chipsets from Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and above have this ability.
