According to a report published by technology testing and consulting organization Signal65, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is significantly faster than the Google Pixel 8 Pro when it comes to AI performance in tasks like summarizing, live translation, and image editing.
Specifically, the Galaxy S24 Ultra outperformed the Pixel 8 Pro in three leading AI benchmarks, with performance 3 to 8 times higher than the Google flagship in some cases.
Interestingly, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is also faster at removing objects from photos. It's a feature that Google has been working on longer than Samsung, but with Galaxy AI, the Korean giant has leveled the playing field.
In fact, the entire process of removing objects on the Galaxy S24 Ultra, from tapping the object removal option and moving around the object until getting the final result, is faster even when compared to some desktop photo editing apps like GIMP.
It’s worth noting that the report is mostly about the AI features that are processed on the device. So it’s not hard to see why the Galaxy S24 Ultra beats the Pixel 8 Pro. Samsung’s flagship uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset for Galaxy, which is significantly more powerful than Google’s in-house Tensor SoC, which isn’t designed for top performance. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s Neural Processing Unit (NPU) handles all the AI and machine learning tasks at an impressively fast pace. Google could catch up with Samsung with the Pixel 9 Pro and its new Tensor chip. Stay tuned!
