The One UI 7 Beta program kicked off on December 5, two months after Samsung’s SDC 2024 event. It’s no secret that One UI 7.0 – based on Android 15 – is one of the biggest software updates in Samsung’s recent history.
There are a lot of changes to the UI and existing features, along with a bunch of new ones. With the first beta already released for the Galaxy S24 series, we now have the full changelog for the update.
It’s worth noting that some of the features mentioned in the changelog aren’t working at the moment. This could change as future betas roll out, although it’s likely that everything won’t work properly until the stable version rolls out next year.
Galaxy AI
Write like a pro
Let Galaxy AI help you write wherever you can select text. You can correct spelling and grammar, change the tone, summarize, and format. You can even start with a short excerpt and let Al write it.
Transcribe recorded calls
It's easier than ever to review recorded calls in the Phone app. You can view the entire conversation as a transcript on the Recents screen.
Bold new look
Interface improvements
Enjoy a more refined and unique look. One UI 7 introduces a beautiful new design for key UI elements, including buttons, menus, notifications, and controls, providing a more consistent visual experience with curves and circles.
Gorgeous new colors, smooth animations, and innovative blur effects are unique to One UI, making the information hierarchy clearer and helping you focus on what's important.
Refreshed icons and widgets
New app icons look great on the Home screen, with visual metaphors and new color schemes that make it easier to identify the apps you need. Widgets have also been completely redesigned with more colorful images and a more consistent layout.
Improved Home screen
Simplified Home screen grid
The Home screen is now even better than before. The new standard grid layout keeps everything symmetrical and makes it easier to use One UI widgets at standard sizes.
Improved Home screen landscape view
The Home screen interface is now more consistent, even when you're using your phone horizontally. Widgets have the same aspect ratio in landscape view, and text labels appear below the icons instead of next to them.
Customize your app and widget style
Customize your Home screen to your liking. You can now adjust the size of app icons and choose whether to display text labels below app icons and featured widgets.
New widget settings
Customize the look of widgets to suit your taste. You can adjust the shape, background color, and transparency for each widget.
Larger Home screen folders
You can make folders on the Home screen larger so you can open apps instantly without having to open the folder first.
Easier Finder access
The Finder search bar has been moved to the bottom of the Apps screen for easy one-handed access. You can also add the Finder key to the Quick Panel to quickly activate it at any time.
Lock screen and Always-On Display
Stay on top of important tasks with the Now bar
Check the information you need right now and activate essential features without unlocking your phone. Ongoing tasks appear in the Now bar on the top half of the Lock Screen so you can check important information at a glance.
Information that can be displayed includes multimedia, an Interpreter, a Stopwatch, a Timer, a Recorder, Samsung Health, and more.
Customize your clock to your taste
Explore a variety of new clock styles for the Lock Screen. You can adjust the thickness of the lines in the default clock style, or try one of the new animated clocks that might suit your taste.
More flexible editing
Editing the Lock Screen has never been easier. You can resize the clock to your liking and drag it to the desired position.
More widgets and shortcuts
Now you can see more and do more even when your phone is locked. Add a widget to display images and stories from Gallery, or try a shortcut that opens the QR code scanner with a quick swipe.
Quick Panel and Notifications
Separate Notifications with Quick Panel
Get instant access to the panels you need with more room for controls. Swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen to open Quick Panel. Swipe down from anywhere else at the top of the screen to open Notifications.
You can return to the previous layout by choosing to see notifications and Quick Panel at the same time in Quick Panels settings.
Live Notifications
Stay informed about what’s happening right now. Live Notifications show you the progress of ongoing activities – like timers, recorders, workouts, and more – so you can take quick actions related to them.
Live Notifications appear in the Now bar on the Lock screen, in the status bar, and at the top of the notification panel.
New notification layout
Icons in notifications now look like the icons that appear on the Home screen, making it easier to see which app sent the notification. Grouped notifications appear as a stack. Tap a stack to see all the notifications in the group.
Customize Quick Panels
Create your own Quick Panel layout. You can tap the pencil icon at the top of Quick Panels to enter Edit mode, then move the controls up and down to suit your needs.
Easier Shooting
New Camera Layout
Camera controls and modes have been reorganized to make it easier to find the features you need and give you a clearer preview of the photo you're taking or the movie you're recording.
Improved Mode Selection
The More Modes panel has been redesigned. Instead of filling the entire screen and blocking previews, you can now select a mode from a small pop-up that covers only the bottom of the screen.
Improved Zoom Controls
It's now easier to choose the right zoom level. The 2x lossless zoom option is now displayed by default, and other zoom options appear after you select a lens.
Save exposure settings for each mode
Control the brightness of your image with the Exposure option in the camera's quick controls. Once set, exposure will remain the same even if you switch to another mode and back.
Improved Pro Mode and Pro Video
Pro and Pro Video modes have a simplified layout to help you easily focus on the photo you're taking or the movie you're recording.
A new zoom control is displayed whenever you're shooting in Pro Video mode, allowing you to control the zoom speed for smoother transitions between zoom levels. Microphone controls in Pro Video mode have been grouped into quick controls.
Prepare for the perfect shot
Get help adjusting your camera position with grid lines and leveling. Grid lines can now be toggled on and off separately from leveling. There's also a new option for vertical leveling.

See more on the big screen
Your files let you see more than ever before on large-screen devices. On the right side of the screen, you can see a preview of supported files along with the file path, size, and modification date.
Advanced options for schedules

Plan tasks and events
Easily reschedule calendar events
Simply drag an event from one day to another on your calendar in Month view to change the date of the event.
Show separate calendars on the widget
You now have more control over which calendars appear on your calendar widget. You can choose to show events from just one calendar on your Home screen or create two separate calendar widgets with different calendars.
Countdown to an important event
Creating a countdown widget for an event on your calendar has never been easier. View the event details, then select Add countdown widget from the other options panel. A widget will appear on your Home screen, showing the number of days until a birthday, anniversary, holiday, or any other event you select.
Move all events from one calendar to another
Avoid the hassle of moving events one by one. You can now move all events from one calendar to another, such as moving all events from your phone calendar to a cloud calendar.
More options for repeating reminders
When you create a repeating reminder, you can choose multiple days for the reminder to repeat instead of just one.
Enhanced Quick Add Menu
Creating reminders is now faster. The Quick Add Menu now offers pre-selected time and location conditions.
Auto-delete completed reminders
Clean up your reminder list. A new option lets you automatically delete completed reminders after a certain amount of time.
Reuse completed reminders
You can now copy completed reminders to reuse them without having to re-enter all the information.
Connect and share
Recommended devices for Quick Share
Don't waste time looking for the device you need to share. Devices signed in to your Samsung Account and devices you've shared with in the past will appear at the top of the list, making them easier to find.
Resume sharing over the air
No need to worry about failed file transfers. When sharing files with Quick Share, if the devices are too far apart to continue the transfer directly, the transfer will automatically continue over the network using Wi-Fi or mobile data.
Protect Your Security
Check the security status of your devices
Learn about security risks and address them quickly. Knox Matrix monitors supported devices signed in to your Samsung Account using a secure, private blockchain. Each device can check the security status of other devices and alert you if there are any threats.
Stay Safe from Security Threats
Auto-blocking goes even further to protect you from cyberattacks when Maximum Restriction is enabled. 2G networks will be blocked and your phone will not automatically reconnect to Wi-Fi networks. These restrictions can help prevent attackers from interfering with your network activity.
Battery & Charging
More Options for Saving Battery
You now have more control over what happens when you turn on Battery Saver mode for your phone. Choose specifically which features you want to limit to save battery, to suit your needs. You can even change your mind while Battery Saver mode is active.
More Control Over Battery Protection
When you turn on Battery Saver, you can adjust the maximum charge level between 80% and 95%.
New charging animation
When you plug in your charger, the confirmation animation is smaller and appears in the bottom half of the screen instead of the middle, so it doesn't interrupt what you're doing while still effectively signaling the charging status.
Accessibility for everyone
Zoom in and out with just one finger
Zooming in and out is easier than ever. For those who have trouble using Zoom, you can enable 1-finger zoom from the Accessibility screen in Settings. Swipe up or right to zoom in. Swipe down or left to zoom out.
Improved screen controls
Accessibility now does even more to help you control the screen. You can double-tap and then tap and hold with a single press. New scroll controls let you move a certain distance around the screen by tapping the start and end points on the screen.
Customize touch interactions
Get help choosing the settings that are most comfortable for you. There are new tests for Touch & Hold Delay, Touch Duration, and Ignore Repeated Touch. The test can tell you if your current settings are right for you or if you need to make any adjustments.

In Video Player, a movie will appear at the end of each movie, allowing you to watch the movie from the beginning.

When searching for contacts, contacts you search for frequently will appear at the top of the search results, helping you find the right person faster.
