Samsung has officially confirmed the launch date for One UI 7.0, the long-awaited major software update for Galaxy users. The rollout is scheduled to begin on April 7, 2025, with eligible devices receiving the update in the coming weeks. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 are also included in the update, but there are some features that the two foldable phones won't be able to use.
One of the standout features of One UI 7 is the smart search tool in the Settings app, which makes it easy for users to find and change settings using natural language. For example, you can just type or say “My eyes are tired” and the system will immediately display options like turning on Eye Protection mode or reducing the screen brightness. However, this feature will not be available on One UI 7 for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5.
Another important feature that these two phones miss is Audio Eraser, a tool that helps remove background noise in videos. One UI 7 can recognize and process up to six different types of noise, such as wind, background chatter, or traffic noise, giving your videos cleaner audio quality. This is one of the most notable AI features, but unfortunately, it will not be available on the Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5.
What features are still available on the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5?
Despite some limited features, the One UI 7 update still brings many worthy upgrades to these two foldable devices. Users will have the opportunity to experience a new interface with the Now Bar, redesigned icons, smoother system animations, and some color palette tweaks. In addition, many other Galaxy AI features will still be available on the Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5, including AI Select, Writing Assist, and Drawing Assist, to enhance the user experience.
Despite lacking some outstanding features, One UI 7 still promises to improve performance and bring a better experience to Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5 users. If you want to enjoy all the latest features, you may need to consider a newer model in the future.
