Samsung has just announced the details of the May 2025 security update for Galaxy devices. This release includes many important patches from Google, Samsung, and partners to improve user safety. Some devices, such as the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy A56 series, have started receiving this update, other models will be deployed soon.
Specifically, the May security package includes 58 critical patches related to the Android operating system. According to Google's announcement, there are no vulnerabilities classified as the highest level of danger this month. In addition, Samsung has also fixed two serious vulnerabilities related to its semiconductor processors, affecting some devices using Exynos chips.
Notably, the update also addresses 20 vulnerabilities in the Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) category, which are security issues that only affect Galaxy devices and do not affect other Android phones. For security reasons, Samsung has not disclosed all the details, but it has mentioned some notable issues.
These include a vulnerability in the Keymaster trustlet system that allows attackers to access unauthorized memory, a bug in SmartManagerCN that can be exploited to launch malicious activities, and a serious bug in EnrichedCall that allows unauthorized access to sensitive information. Additionally, Samsung also fixed a bug in the Galaxy Watch settings that could be physically exploited, along with several other bugs related to notification history, Wi-Fi P2P services, and S Pen control.
The vulnerabilities affect multiple Galaxy devices running Android 13, 14, and 15. Samsung is currently rolling out these patches as part of its May security update, with rollouts varying by market and device. Users can check for and install the update via Settings > Software update > Download and install.
