Samsung officially speaks out about testing One UI 8

Samsung has officially responded to rumors surrounding One UI 8, an operating system based on Android 16 after it was reported that the version is being tested on Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 devices. While users are still waiting for One UI 7.0 to stabilize on Galaxy devices, the early appearance of One UI 8 has caused a stir in the community.

Last week, several sources discovered One UI 8 builds running on Samsung's internal test devices, with model numbers F956BXXU2CYC1 on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and F741BXXU2CYC1 on the Galaxy Z Flip 6. This has sparked speculation that Samsung may be speeding up the development of the new operating system.

However, a member of Samsung's One UI development team confirmed on the Samsung Community forum that these builds are still in the "early stages of development" and are only being tested internally, with no plans for a public release. This also clears up some confusion in the community, as many people mistakenly thought that One UI 8 was ready for user testing.

However, there are still many signs that One UI 8 could appear sooner than its predecessors. Some recent reports say that Samsung may skip intermediate updates like One UI 7.1 or One UI 7.0.1 to focus on developing directly to One UI 8. If this happens, One UI 8 could launch in the second half of 2025, helping Galaxy devices catch up with the Android 16 update schedule, and avoiding delays like One UI 7.

Currently, Samsung has not made an official announcement about the launch date of One UI 8. However, with the company stepping up internal testing, it is likely that users will soon have more information about this version in the near future.
