Samsung is gearing up for its annual Unpacked event in July, where it is expected to officially unveil its next generation of foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. If all goes well, we could even see the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE and possibly the first-ever tri-fold phone, although that device may only be available in limited quantities. However, the latest information suggests that Samsung may be making a notable change: both the Fold 7 and Flip 7 may run One UI 8.0 out of the box.

According to SamMobile, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 will come with One UI 8.0 based on Android 16. This is a big surprise, especially since there have been signs that Samsung will skip One UI 7.1 and 7.1.1. With Google expected to release the stable version of Android 16 in June or July, it makes sense for Samsung to launch the new foldable just a few weeks later with the new OS.

This leak is further supported by another leaker who previously revealed that the Fold 7 and Flip 7 will run One UI 8.0 out of the box. In addition, Samsung seems to be trying to make up for the delay of One UI 7.0 by speeding up the release of One UI 8.0. Such an early rollout is something no one expected.

In addition to the Fold 7 and Flip 7, the Galaxy S25 series will also be among the first devices to receive One UI 8.0. Samsung has already started testing the first software builds of One UI 8.0 for the series, further strengthening the possibility of the update being released earlier than usual.
