Samsung continues to roll out the March 2025 security update to its Galaxy devices, this time with the Galaxy S22 series. After focusing on its latest flagships, the company is now expanding the update to older phones to ensure users still receive the latest security patches.
Launched in February 2022, the Galaxy S22 series marks a major change in Samsung's design, especially with the Galaxy S22 Ultra. This is the brand's first phone to feature a camera design that no longer has a raised cluster, but instead has individually placed sensors. In addition, this is also the first Ultra device to support the S Pen, although there is no dedicated slot. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S22 and S22+ still retain the camera module style that is integrated into the frame.
The March 2025 security update has started rolling out to the Galaxy S22 series in Europe with firmware version S90xBXXSDEYB1 and in South Korea with version S90xNKSS7EYB3. As usual, the update will be available in other regions in the coming time. Although it does not bring any new features, this patch helps improve the security of the device by fixing up to 58 exploitable vulnerabilities. Of these, seven vulnerabilities are related to Samsung's proprietary hardware and software, while the remaining bugs are from the Android operating system.
Galaxy S22 users are also waiting for the One UI 7 update based on Android 15. According to the latest confirmation from Samsung, the stable version of One UI 7 will start rolling out on April 7. However, the Galaxy S22 series is not among the first devices to receive this update. Samsung has yet to announce plans for a One UI 7 beta program for the S22, and it’s unclear when the update will be available to users. Hopefully, the company will share more details in the near future.
