Google has just officially released Android 16 Beta 4, the final beta in the new operating system development roadmap. While Galaxy users are still waiting for the Android 15 update via One UI 7, the search giant is moving very fast with the next generation of Android. The completion of the beta stage opens up the opportunity for manufacturers like Samsung to deploy Android 16 along with One UI 8 to users soon.
Android 16 Beta 4 is now available for eligible Pixel devices in the testing program. This is the final update before Google releases the stable version, expected in June 2025. In addition, Google has also allowed some OEM partners such as Honor, OnePlus, OPPO, Realme, vivo, Xiaomi, iQOO or Lenovo to deploy Android 16 beta on their devices.
Samsung has yet to join the official Android 16 beta program. However, this is not too surprising because the company usually starts testing programs later than its competitors. However, the signs of the early appearance of One UI 8 are still becoming clearer. Samsung recently released internal One UI 8 builds through the Remote Test Lab tool, allowing developers and users to enhance the experience early by manually installing it on some Galaxy devices.
Although the official beta program start date has not been announced, many sources suggest that One UI 8 will arrive earlier than usual. This may be thanks to the stability of Android 16 as well as the fact that One UI 8 is just an optimization update, not changing too much compared to One UI 7.
It is likely that One UI 8 will be pre-installed on new foldable devices that Samsung is expected to launch in July or August. If that's the case, the One UI 8 Beta program could be announced soon after, with the Galaxy S25 being the first to get tested.
