Now Bar is one of the most notable highlights of One UI 7.0. On Google's side, the company has also been quietly developing a similar feature for the past few years and has finally officially launched it with Android 16 under the name Live Updates. As expected, this feature will be integrated directly into the Now Bar on Galaxy devices running One UI 8.

In the recently leaked firmware of One UI 8 for some high-end Galaxy models, programmer @DevOfIpos discovered that Live Updates from Android 16 have been working smoothly in the Now Bar interface. Specifically, when the system recognizes a Live Updates notification on an Android 16 device, the information will automatically display in the Now Bar of One UI 8.0.

This notification will appear simultaneously on the lock screen, status bar, and notification area. If the user taps the pill-shaped icon in the status bar, the notification will expand to a full form at the top of the screen, showing more details about the activity that is happening. This is considered a seamless combination of Now Bar and Live Updates, both in design and user experience.

Google has said that Live Updates will support apps like ride-hailing, order tracking, food delivery, and may even include real-time sports scores. When officially deployed on One UI 8, Galaxy users will have a more modern and convenient dynamic information display experience.
