Samsung is rolling out the One UI 7 update based on Android 15 to a range of Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The update brings a number of performance improvements, interface changes, and feature upgrades. However, for some devices, this will also be the last major Android update.
Specifically, many Galaxy models have reached the software support period limit according to Samsung's policy. That means these devices will not be upgraded to One UI 8, the next version based on Android 16, which is expected to launch this summer. In the future, they may still receive regular security patches, but there will be no more major feature updates.
Samsung is currently committed to supporting up to 7 generations of OS updates for new devices, but for older models, the support period is shorter, depending on the release year and Android version at launch.
Here's a list of Galaxy devices that are likely to get One UI 7:
- Galaxy S21, S21 Plus, S21 Ultra
- Galaxy Z Fold 3, Z Flip 3
- Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022)
- Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro
- Galaxy A14, A14 5G
- Galaxy A05, A05s
- Galaxy M33
- Galaxy M14, M14 5G
- Galaxy F14
If you're using one of these devices, enjoy what One UI 7 brings, as it's likely to be the last major update it'll get. While Samsung may be more generous with some specific models, One UI 8 is generally reserved for newer devices. Currently, the One UI 8 beta program is said to start rolling out this month. We'll update as more information becomes available.
