In recent years, Galaxy fans have been expecting Samsung to bring significant breakthroughs, especially in the battery department. As many companies are moving towards high-density battery technology, a new report suggests that the Galaxy S26 Ultra may continue to disappoint users with its unchanged battery capacity.
According to reliable leaker PandaFlash, Samsung has no plans to significantly upgrade the battery capacity of the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Even if there is an upgrade, the capacity will only stop at below 5,400 mAh. This shows that Samsung is not ready to adopt high-density battery technology, although previous rumors have mentioned this possibility.
All current signs point to the Galaxy S26 Ultra continuing to use the same 5,000 mAh battery as its predecessors since 2020. While this is still enough for most users, it is clearly lagging behind the trend of many other brands, especially Chinese brands.
In fact, some manufacturers have launched devices with batteries up to 7,000 mAh. Even the OnePlus 13 has a 6,000 mAh battery. In that context, it is quite disappointing that Samsung is still keeping the same battery capacity.
Not stopping there, the report also said that the fast charging speed of the Galaxy S26 Ultra will not change. The device will still support wired charging up to 45W, while competitors have reached the 100W or even 150W mark. While thereโs no word on wireless charging yet, itโs clear that Samsung is lagging behind the rest of the industry.
One possible reason for this decision is the slim design strategy that Samsung is pursuing. The company has sacrificed space inside the device to create a more streamlined design, typically removing the Bluetooth chip in the S Pen. However, instead of using that space to increase battery capacity, Samsung has chosen to make the device thinner.
Will the strategy of prioritizing design over battery performance be as effective as expected? The answer will only be known when the Galaxy S26 Ultra is officially launched and reaches users.
