Samsung has just confirmed that it will launch the ultra-thin flagship Galaxy S25 Edge, but that's not all. A completely new product, a triple-folding smartphone, is being developed by the company. This device is rumored to be called the Galaxy G Fold and is currently attracting attention not only because of its unique folding design but also because of the advanced hardware inside.
The most notable point on this triple-folding model is that Samsung will apply silicon-carbon battery technology for the first time. This type of battery is capable of storing more energy in the same size as traditional lithium-ion batteries. According to leaked sources, Samsung has completed safety and performance tests, ready to equip silicon-carbon batteries for the first triple-folding model to be launched later this year. Although the battery capacity will probably be under 5000mAh to ensure a thin and light design, this could be the beginning of a new battery trend on future Galaxy lines, which may include the Galaxy S26.
In addition to using a new battery, the Galaxy G Fold will also share some components with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, such as the speaker cluster and external design details. The device uses a custom hinge that allows it to fold in two directions while still being able to open completely flat. However, due to the tri-fold structure, the device's screen may have a more obvious crease than the traditional Fold.
Some sources say the Galaxy G Fold will support 8K video recording at 30fps, but only with the main camera. Meanwhile, the new 50MP ultra-wide-angle sensor on the Galaxy S25 Ultra does not seem to be integrated into this tri-fold model.
All current information is still based on the prototype that is being tested internally by Samsung, so changes can still occur before the product is officially launched. The Galaxy G Fold is expected to launch in September or October this year. Before that, Samsung will introduce the Galaxy S25 Edge in mid-May, followed by the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 in early July.
