Samsung has started rolling out a new software update for the Galaxy S25 series. While the focus of this update is the June 2025 security patch, another notable detail is that it suggests that One UI 8 Beta 2 may be on the way. The update is currently rolling out in South Korea and is expected to expand to other regions in the coming days.
The Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, which are still running One UI 7 (not One UI 8 Beta), have just received an update with a new bootloader. The bootloader is the underlying software that launches when the device is turned on, playing an important role in security and preventing users from reverting to software versions with lower bootloader levels.
The June 2025 update for the Galaxy S25 in South Korea comes with firmware version S93NKSS4AYE5, where the fifth digit from the right represents that the bootloader has been upgraded to version “4”. This is a change from the previous May update, which had code S93NKSS3AYDF.
Interestingly, this new bootloader matches the version that Samsung is using in its internal One UI 8 testing. This means that users upgrading to the upcoming One UI 8 Beta 2 will be able to revert back to the stable One UI 7 without encountering bootloader compatibility issues as before.
In addition, the June update also includes more than 60 security patches included in Samsung’s SMR system maintenance package. We will continue to monitor and update as soon as Samsung expands this patch to more countries or officially releases One UI 8 Beta 2 for the Galaxy S25 series.
