As expected by the user community, Samsung has officially released the April update for the Galaxy S25 series. This is not only a regular security patch, but also brings a series of upgrades to performance, camera, charging, and user interface. Some new features have also been added in this update.

Although in the update notes, Samsung only mentioned improving the stability of the system, camera, and charging capabilities, users soon discovered many notable changes after installation.

First, the battery charging animation effect has been renewed by Samsung, bringing a more intuitive and smoother experience. This is most likely the charging effect that was updated on the Galaxy S24 series when upgrading to One UI 7 (Beta 6 or official version). Along with that, the thick and large battery icon typical of One UI 7 has also appeared on the Galaxy S25, a controversial change because many users still prefer the old, slimmer icon.

In addition, the April update also adds the ability to control the music player right on the Now Bar and in the Live Notifications section, making it easy for users to control the content being played without opening the application.

As for the camera, Samsung only noted "more stable" without specifying what new features were added. Therefore, it is likely that these are just minor tweaks to improve performance when taking photos and recording videos.

Finally, the update comes with the April 2025 security patch, patching more than 56 existing security vulnerabilities on Galaxy devices. Currently, Samsung has deployed this update in Korea for the entire Galaxy S25 series with the software code AYD9 and a capacity of nearly 800MB (depending on the model). It is expected that in the next few days, the update will be expanded to many other regions around the world.

Users should regularly check Settings > Software Update > Download and Install to ensure the device is updated as soon as possible.
