Samsung has just released the June 2025 security patch for the Galaxy S24 FE in South Korea. This is the latest SMR (Security Maintenance Release) update for the Fan Edition model, with other markets expected to receive the update in the coming days.
As usual, the June patch includes over 60 security fixes for apps, services, and system components, including issues in Android and One UI. The Galaxy S24 FE officially joins the list of devices that have received this update in June.
The update in South Korea has the firmware version S721NKSS4BYE1. Notably, in addition to the security patches, Samsung has also upgraded the bootloader for this device, which is shown in the fifth digit from the right in the build code. Previously, the May release had the code S721NKSS3BYDF, indicating that the bootloader had been upgraded from version 3 to 4.
Upgrading the bootloader usually means deeper security changes at the system level and prevents users from rolling back to older software versions. This could also be a sign that Samsung is preparing to launch a One UI 8 beta testing program for the Galaxy S24 FE, although the possibility remains open.
The Galaxy S24 FE was launched in late 2024, running One UI 6.1 based on Android 14. The device received One UI 7 (Android 15) as its first major update and is supported up to 7 generations of the operating system, equivalent to Android 21 (One UI 13). One UI 8 is expected to reach Galaxy S24 FE users in the next few months.
