Samsung has just released the One UI 7.0 update for the Galaxy A16 5G, the company's first mainstream smartphone to be committed to supporting up to six major Android OS updates. The update has now started rolling out in European countries and will soon expand to other markets in the near future.

Previously, the Galaxy A16 4G version also started receiving One UI 7 in late May.

This update is built on Android 15 with software code A166BXXU3BYEC, about 3GB in size. In addition to new features, the device also has a security patch upgraded to May 2025, helping to improve safety when used.

Galaxy A16 5G users in Europe can check and install by accessing Settings > Software update > Download and install. Once the download is complete, simply tap โ€œInstall Nowโ€ to complete.

In terms of features, One UI 7.0 brings a refreshed user interface with new app icons, a more customizable quick panel, a separate notification page, a battery icon, and new charging effects. The animations are smoother and more vivid. Users now need to swipe from the top right corner of the screen to open the quick panel, while notifications will appear on a separate page.

The update also adds the Now Bar toolbar, which displays ongoing activities such as music playback, map navigation, workouts with Samsung Health, a stopwatch, or a timer. The Now Bar appears on the lock screen, notification area, and as a small pill on the status bar.

In addition, One UI 7.0 also makes Google's virtual assistant, Gemini, the default on the Galaxy A16 5G. Users can access Gemini by holding down the power button. Gemini is also deeply integrated with some Samsung apps such as Calendar, Clock, Notes, and Reminders.

The Camera app has also been redesigned for easier one-handed operation, with the main function keys placed near the bottom edge of the screen. In terms of security, Samsung has added the Knox Matrix control panel and a feature to block all unwanted USB connections.

With this update, the Galaxy A16 5G not only has a new, more modern interface but also significantly enhances performance, security, and customizability, bringing a better experience to ordinary users.
