Evidence suggests Samsung is testing One UI 8.0 on the Galaxy S25

While Galaxy S24 users are still eagerly waiting for the stable One UI 7.0 update expected to launch in April, Samsung has already started testing One UI 8.0 on the Galaxy S25 series. This information was revealed by famous leaker Tarun Vats on the X platform, when he discovered the Galaxy S25 running One UI 8.0 appearing on the GeekBench database.

The benchmark scores of One UI 8.0 on the Galaxy S25 do not have many major differences compared to the One UI 7.0 version, just slightly better. However, the fact that Samsung has expanded the One UI 8.0 testing from the Galaxy S25 Ultra to the base Galaxy S25 model shows the company's seriousness in developing the new software.

Looking back at the usual schedule, Samsung usually kicks off the One UI beta testing program in August every year, with the stable release announced at the developer conference event in the fall. However, in 2024, the company missed a serious beat when it had to wait until December to deploy the One UI 7.0 beta program for the Galaxy S24. Currently, the stable update has not been released for the S24 series.

This makes users hope that Samsung will speed up the development of One UI 8.0 to overcome the delay of the previous version. If the One UI 8.0 testing program is deployed soon, users can expect two major updates to be released in 2025.

Regarding One UI 8.0, there are currently not many details about the new features. However, many experts predict that this update will not be a major overhaul but will focus on improving performance and optimizing the platform changes that have been made since One UI 7.0.

One of the notable features that users expect from One UI 8.0 is support for third-party lock screen widgets, a feature that has been integrated into Google's Android 16 version. This promises to bring a richer and more customizable user experience.

Overall, the initial tests show a positive outlook for One UI 8.0. If Samsung can launch the beta program soon, we can definitely see this version officially launched in 2025, after the stable One UI 7.0 rollout is complete. One UI 7.0 is expected to be released on April 7.
