A few days ago, Galaxy S24 users in Europe started receiving a new software update that was over 1GB in size, but the changelog was quite vague, only mentioning “improved device usability”. Now, a similar update is also being released for the Galaxy S25 series in this region.
The second May update for the Galaxy S25 is large, but does not include a new security patch. Specifically, the Galaxy S25 Ultra version received an update that was heavier than 1.2GB with the same changelog as the Galaxy S24, simply “improved device usability”.
With such a large size, it is possible that this update is preparing the foundation for new features or tweaks to increase the stability of One UI 8 in the near future. Previously, Galaxy S24 users also made a similar hypothesis. The lack of a new security patch makes this theory even more plausible.
The update has not yet been rolled out outside of Europe. It could be a regional release to meet some local regulatory software requirements, although Samsung has not confirmed this. We will update you as more information becomes available.
The update for the Galaxy S25 Ultra in Europe is known to have the firmware version S938BXXU3AYE7. However, the update is only for devices running One UI 7, not for users who have signed up for the One UI 8 Beta testing program. The One UI 8 Beta is currently only available in the US, South Korea, Germany, and the UK, and is expected to expand to India, China, and Poland this month.
